CRTEWU Hosts Seminar on Smart Phone Usage for Women’s Empowerment Against Domestic Violence
The Center for Research and Training at East West University (CRTEWU) successfully hosted a knowledge-sharing seminar titled “Smart Phone Usage for Women’s Empowerment to Respond Against Domestic Violence in Bangladesh” on January 2, 2025, in the CRTEWU Seminar Room at East West University (EWU).
The seminar featured a presentation by Dr. Touhida Tasnima, Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Relations at EWU. Dr. Tasnima recently completed her PhD on this important topic and shared her research findings with the audience.
Dr. Rafiqul Huda Chaudhury, a Member of the Board of Trustees at EWU and Chairperson of CRTEWU, presided over the seminar session. The audience participated actively, asking insightful questions, making comments, and providing valuable feedback during the Q&A session.
Notable attendees included Dr. Joy Samad, a Member of the Board of Trustees at EWU, and Air Commodore (Retired) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Treasurer of EWU, who also shared their thoughts on the topic of the seminar.
Professor Dr. Muhammed Shahriar Haque, the Executive Director of CRTEWU, delivered the introductory speech, emphasizing the significance of the topic and the presenter.
The seminar highlighted the critical role of smartphones in empowering women to combat domestic violence and underscored the importance of technological solutions in addressing social issues.

CRTEWU Hosts Research Seminar on the Preservation of Indigenous Knowledge
The Center for Research and Training at East West University (CRTEWU) successfully hosted a research seminar titled “Perceptions of Academic Librarians in Bangladesh Regarding the Preservation of Indigenous Knowledge” on November 7, 2024, in the CRTEWU Seminar Room at East West University (EWU). The seminar featured presentations by Mr. Abdur Rahman Sumon, a Senior Lecturer, and Mr. Raiyan bin Reza, a Lecturer, both from the Department of Information Studies at EWU. Their presentations addressed the critical issue of preserving indigenous knowledge and explored the perspectives of academic librarians in Bangladesh on this important topic.
Dr. Md. Roknuzzaman, a Professor in the Department of Information Science and Library Management at the University of Dhaka, presented as the main discussant, providing insightful commentary and valuable feedback. Dr. Rafiqul Huda Chaudhury, a Member of the Board of Trustees at EWU and Chairperson of CRTEWU, presided over the seminar session. Professor Dr. M. Ashik Mosaddik, the Pro-Vice Chancellor of East West University, shared his thoughts on the importance of the research seminar, which CRTEWU regularly organizes.
Professor Dr. Muhammed Shahriar Haque, the Executive Director of CRTEWU, delivered the introductory speech, emphasizing the significance of the topic and the contributions of the presenters. The seminar concluded with closing remarks from Professor Dr. Md. Sohel Rana, the Deputy Executive Director of CRTEWU.

EWUCRT Arranges a Day-Long 'Research Fair'
A day-long 'Research Fair' has been organized by the East West University Center for Research and Training (EWUCRT) at East West University (EWU) at Aftabnagar, Dhaka on 05 March 2020. There were 16 Universities, Research Organigations, and Some Industries of the country have participated in the 'Research Fair'.
The inaugural session of the 'Research Fair' was attended by among others; Professor Dr. Kazi Shahidullah, Chairman, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, Syed Manzur Elahi, Chairperson, Board of Trustees of EWU, and a former adviser to the caretaker government, Professor, Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chief Adviser, EWU and a former governor of Bangladesh Bank, Professor Dr. M. M. Shahidul Hassan, Vice Chancellor, EWU, and Dr. Rafiqul Huda Chaudhury, Chairperson, (EWUCRT). Professor Dr. Muhammed Shahriar Haque, Executive Director, EWUCRT, and Dr. Farhana Ferdousi, Deputy Executive Director, EWUCRT, deleivered their welcome remarks on the session.
On the occasion, speakers highlighted the essentiality of quality research for the advancement of developing countries like Bangladesh. Researchers, Industrial Personnel, Teachers, and Students from different institutions participated in the program.
The Concluding session was attended by Professor Dr. Fakrul Alam, UGC Professor, Professor Shamsad Mortuza, Pro-VC, ULAB, Professor Salim Rashid, University Professor, EWU, Dr. Norman K. Swazo, Director, Office of Research, NSU, Professor Dr. Abul Hasnat Md. Golam Azam, Dean, School of Business and Economics, UIU, Professor Laila Anjuman Banu, Department of Anatomy, BSMMU, Professor Dr. Zakir Hossain Raju, Director, Centre for School Science Research, IUB, and Md. Golam Shahnewaz, Vice President, Footwear and Products Division, Concord Ventures Group. A questions and answers session also held on the occasion.
The objective of the 'Research Fair' is to showcase the best practices of research and development being carried out in Bangladeshi organizations and educational institutions, with the hope to create a bridge between academia and industry to foster research and innovation for the betterment of our country.

EWUCRT Organizes a Research Seminar
East West University Center for Research and Training (EWUCRT) organized the seminar on ‘Human Security of the Rohingyas from a Gender Perspective’” at the EWUCRT Seminar Room of East West University (EWU) campus, Aftabnagar, Dhaka on 12 September 2019. The research paper was presented by M. Bashir Uddin, Ph.D., researcher, Graduate School of Law, Kobe University, Japan. The seminar was conducted by Dr. Rafiqul Huda Chaudhury, Member, Board of Trustees, EWU and Chairperson, EWUCRT.
On the occasion, the main discussion on the research topic was Professor Ishrat Shamim, President, Centre for Women and Children Studies (CWCS) Dhaka and former Professor of Department of Sociology, University of Dhaka. After the formal presentation, a lively question and answering session also held on the occasion.
Professor Dr. Muhammed Shahriar Haque, Executive Director, EWUCRT, along with faculty members and students of EWU, officials of EWUCRT, also attended the seminar.
