East West University Center for Research and Training (EWUCRT) organized an International Conference on Knowledge Transfer at East West University Campus, Dhaka, 17-18 February, 2017 with the partial financial support from UGC Academic Innovation Fund under the HEQEP sub-project: Knowledge Transfer and Capacity Development of Academic Staff.

The objective of the conference was to bring together international and national scholars and experts under one roof to discuss and foster better understanding of four interrelated major development concerns of the country: (i) Rapid urbanization; (ii) Government-private sector partnership in infrastructure building and manufacturing; (iii) Climate Change; and (iv) Challenges to understand and meet the needs of the growing youth population. Lessons learnt from both domestic and international experiences will inform policy makers on how to address these challenges and opportunities in order for Bangladesh to move forward. Papers were invited from reputed national and international scholars, and over two dozen papers were presented on various themes of the conference.

The conference was attended by Professor Abdul Mannan and Professor Nazrul Islam, current and penultimate chair of University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, respectively, Dr. Muhammad Farashuddin, Chairperson, Board of Trustees (BoT), East West University (EWU), and Member, United Nations International Civil Service Commission, Professor M.M. Shahidul Hassan, Vice-Chancellor, EWU, Professor Amitabh Kundu, Institute for Human Development, as Keynote Speaker, honorable members of Board of Trustees and galaxy of other scholars from within and outside the university, high Government officials, university faculty, students and EWUCRT staff, including its Chair, Dr. Rafiqul Huda Chaudhury, Executive Director, Professor Dr. Muhammed Shahriar Huque, Ms. Farhana Ferdousi, Deputy Executive Director, Ms. Aynun Nahar, Senior Research Officer and Ms. Shahla Sharmin, Departmental Officer.
